MCT expresses sympathy to Mawio editor The Executive Secretary of Media Council of Tanzanian expressed sympathy to the managing editor of Mawio, Simon Mkina, following the government decision to ban his newspaper for two years.

Government urged to rescind ban on Mawio The government has been urged to rescind the two-year ban it has imposed on Mawio newspaper as the order contravenes the country’s constitution and the Media Services Act of 2016 which basically does not empower the minister for information to mete out such punishment.

Sports day tizi2013The Staff of the Media Council of Tanzania marked the first sports day for 2013 at at Kijitonyama Grounds on Friday April 12, 2013.

Led by Council’s Human Resource and Administrative Manager, Ziada Kilobo, they were well prepared to showcase their talents Before fully engaging in playing different games,they started with physical exercises to gain body readiness and flexibility. This was followed first by jogging before playing basketball, netball and football.The presence of sports instructor, Hussein Bunu who is also a football player of JKT Ruvu which is in the Vodacom Premier League, made the day more exciting for the MCT staff as compared to their previous sports day encounters.

He assisted the staff on how to undertake different kind of exercises in relation to their body weights.

Bunu advised them to start with simple exercises especially for those who do not exercise regularly.

He also encouraged them to exercise at home every morning before going to work as this would help them avert and resist common diseases and make them feel strong , have good spirit and maintain good body shape

The Council has planned to have four sports day sessions per year- one session in every quarter.
