MCT Board meets and endorses audited financial report The Governing Board of the Media Council of Tanzania (MCT) met on July 18, 2017 and among other things it has endorsed and adopted the Council’s financial report for the year ending December 31, 2016.
2016 memorable year for MCT The year 2016 was a very challenging for the Media Council of Tanzania (MCT) in the implementation of its programmes, the Council annual report for the year states.  
CORI pledges support to Mawio The Coalition for the Right to Information (CORI) has decided to render support to Mawio newspaper which has been banned for two years by the government.
MCT mediates LHRC and Uhuru newspaper   The Media council of Tanzania (MCT) has successfully settled a complaint raised by the Legal and Human Rights Centre (HRLC) against Uhuru newspaper.

The Organising Committee for the Excellence in Journalism Awards (EJAT) 2013 met on Jan 17, 2014 and deliberated on a number of issues on the event.

The issues deliberated during the committee’s scheduled meeting presided by its chairperson Kajubi Mukajanga include the event’s judging process and judges, fund-raising and sponsorship and entries received so far.

Committee members were urged double efforts to fund-raise for the event by approaching more sponsors.

Meanwhile nearly 800 entries for the EJAT 2013 have been received so far as the January 21, 2014 draws closer.

Another meeting of the organizing committee is scheduled to take place on January 31, 2014.

Meanwhile the panel of researchers on the candidates for Life Achievement on Journalism Award have been reassigned to carry on with the task for 2013 as their mandate is for three-years.

The EJAT organizing committee is formed by Media Council of Tanzania, Tanzania Media Fund (TMF), Media Institute of Southern Africa –Tanzania chapter (MISA-Tan),Tanzania Media Women’s Association (TAMWA), Tanzania Editors Forum (TEF), Association of Journalists Against Aids (AJAATA), Journalists Environmental Association in Tanzania (JET), John Hopkins University, Media Owners Association of Tanzania (MOAT), Hakielimu, AMREF, ANSAF, BEST-AC and Sikika.
