MCT expresses sympathy to Mawio editor The Executive Secretary of Media Council of Tanzanian expressed sympathy to the managing editor of Mawio, Simon Mkina, following the government decision to ban his newspaper for two years.

Journalists from 62 media houses have submitted entries to EJAT 2015 competition.

The Guardian Limited leads tops the list with 61 entries, Mwananchi Communications Limited 47 entries and ITV, Radio One, EATV and EA Radio have submitted 38 entries.

Region wise, Dar es Salaam is leading with 244 (43%) entries, followed by Mwanza which had 60 (11%) entries and the third is Zanzibar with 46 (8%) entries.

Like last year, electronic media journalists have submitted more entries than print media. While print has 251 entries (44%) electronic has 317 entries (56%).

Men still dominate the competition whereby 364 (64%) entries submitted were from males and 204 (36%) entries were from females.

Entries for the 2015 EJAT are those published or broadcast between January 01, 2015 December 31, 2015.

The ceremony to award winners will be held on April 29, 2016 with the Guest of Honour being the Chairperson of the Commission for Human Rights and Good Governance, Mr. Bahame T. Nyanduga.

This will be the seventh edition of EJAT, organized by MCT and its partners.
